When Domingo Gonzalez immigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1967 at age 15, he probably did not envision that he would change the face of the insurance business in his new home North Bergen, New Jersey. But he did.

Gonzalez & Company Insurance Agency has strong roots in the Gonzalez family’s history and community. Domingo Gonzalez was working as a shoe salesman when a friend introduced him to insurance products sales for Prudential. He was quickly promoted to district manager and it wasn’t long before he founded Gonzalez & Company Insurance in 1978 with the help of his wife, Judy. What started as a small insurance agency grew over the years, expanding into several addresses before building its current elegant headquarters in 1998. A lot of pride is built into its headquarters’ walls, as the business single-handedly grew from the ground up.

Gonzalez & Company continues to grow and expand. The company proudly represents a wide range of prestigious, established carriers – which is rare for a firm of this size. A second generation has entered the business, and is successfully carrying the agency into a new era, representing and expanding Gonzalez Insurance’s presence into Hudson and Bergen counties – with plans to branch out into other areas of New Jersey and New York, one client at a time.

While the new generation at Gonzalez & Company is carefully evolving into the new millennium, the corporate culture remains the same. Just as Domingo and Judy Gonzalez started in 1978, the firm continues to treat every customer and employee as family, in a casual, yet professional atmosphere.
